A swimming pool waterproofed with our membrane CEFIL POOL always results in a very nice finish. We know that watertightness is guaranteed for 10 or 15 years. But not only do we want to ensure this property, but also that it continues to present the same color and visual aspect as the first day. Impossible? Surely NOT. Now, we have to make sure to take care of the pool throughout the year, including the months that it is not in use. Taking care of a PVC-lined pool is very important, but not difficult at all.

BE CAREFUL WITH POOL CHEMICALS

1. Make sure the chemical balance of the water be checked regularly. Don't go overboard when adding chemicals to the pool. LESS IS MORE in most cases. Maintaining proper balance has a significant effect on the liner, as well as many of the other pool components. We recommend keeping your pH within the range of 7,4 to 7,8.

2. Never cover your pool after adding chemicals. You must wait at least 24 hours and ensure that the water is balanced before covering your pool. Pool covers, especially shutter-type and automatic ones, create a closed environment. Chlorine concentrations can build up under the cover and cause the liner to discolor or wrinkle.

3. Make sure the circulation system is “ON” long enough to get good daily filtration. This is an important factor in keeping chemicals well mixed. It can take several hours to filter the volume of pool water, depending on the size of the pool and the filter system.

4. Avoid Using a Floating Chlorinator in Your Vinyl Lined Pool. They can become stationary in the pool and release high concentrations of chlorine in a small area, causing the liner to discolor. This can happen at any time; even when the pump is running.

5. If you use a salt chlorinator, be sure to monitor your system regularly, fundamentally controlling the pH and free Chlorine and keeping it in the range below 2 ppm. If left unchecked, chlorine levels can become excessive due to air temperature, precipitation, overcrowding, etc. Excessive levels of chlorine should be avoided, especially for extended periods, as it can cause a coating to absorb water and wrinkle, leading to discoloration.

REGULAR CLEANING IS ALWAYS IMPORTANT

6. Clean the surface daily. This prevents debris from sticking to the bottom or collecting along the pool wall. Leaves and other debris can cause staining if they are allowed to accumulate on the siding surface for too long.

7. Brush the walls, stairs and corners biweekly. This will help minimize algae buildup. Brushing algae off the water will give the sanitizer a chance to kill it. Substances such as body oil, suntan lotion, etc. accumulate on the waterline. These substances, when exposed to the sun and high temperatures, often turn brown and are very difficult to remove from vinyl. We recommend taking a soft cloth and using the pool water to clean the liner once a week.

8. Do not use abrasive cleaning toolssuch as steel wool, sharp bristle brushes, scouring pads, etc. We recommend using alkaline based cleaning agents to clean the area above the waterline. Acid-based chemicals can leave a residue that causes the vinyl to deteriorate and attack the protective lacquer and pattern of the reinforced membrane.

THE RIGHT TOOLS MAKE A DIFFERENCE

9. Use a automatic pool cleaner can be a simple way to keep a pool clean. Nevertheless, it is important to use it correctly. In general, using a pool cleaner two to three times a week for about two hours is all that is needed to keep a pool clean. Excessive use should be avoided. Excessive robot rubbing against a vinyl siding can be abrasive enough to cause it to deteriorate.

10. Use equipment specifically designed for use in a vinyl liner pool. Keep all equipment in good condition. Replace any badly worn or defective part before continuing to use it in the pool.
